March 16, 2012 at 11:27 am

Saw this factoid and found it quite interesting. These figures are comparisons at the 1145 day of each respective Presidency. You can compare President Obama’s job approval rating to any other President, all the way back to Harry Truman here.

The Word “Inmate” Is Hurtful

July 7, 2011 at 5:33 am

In a rather entertaining lawsuit just filed in the Eastern District of New York (Brooklyn), a woman is demanding that the State stop using the word “inmate“…because it is offensive to inmates the unenthusiastically liberty-inhibited. The court action has been started on behalf of her brother and claims that he has suffered […]

Semper Fi!

May 14, 2011 at 10:29 pm

No idea if this is true, but it deserves to be: Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Georgia, told police he observed a male customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on surveillance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket. When confronted, the man […]

Egypt Shut Down Internet

January 29, 2011 at 5:24 pm

A very worrying graph, and a V for Vendetta inspired response. First it was Facebook. Then it was Twitter. Now, in the face of massive protests in the streets of Cairo and throughout the country, Egypt has pulled the plug on the entire Internet for its citizens. As that chart […]

October 9, 2010 at 11:29 am

Thousands of US sex offenders, prisoners on parole and other convicts were left unmonitored after an electronic tagging system shut down because of data overload. BI Incorporated, which runs the system, reached its data threshold – more than two billion records – on Tuesday. This left authorities across 49 states […]

Where Are They Now: The Ft Hood Killer

August 3, 2010 at 9:00 am

Remember Major Nidal Malik Hasan? The Religion of Peace guy? It’s been a year now since he jumped on a table, yelled “Alah Hu Akhbar” and began a shooting rampage that killed 13 and wounded 31. Obama was straight on the television (surprise) but didn’t use the T-word (surprise). It […]

US: The Scariest Job Chart Ever

July 6, 2010 at 4:35 pm

The chart, put together by Calculated Risk, and dubbed by BusinessInsider as “The Scariest Job Chart Ever” continues to be, well, scary. It shows that in the United States there is no v-shaped ascent as with other jobs recoveries. The dotted line excludes hirings for the US Census and is […]

A Lesson In Public Sector Pay

January 22, 2010 at 8:00 am

…from across the Pond. Just as in the United Kingdom, public sector workers are getting pay raises when the private sector is freezing pay and losing jobs – 7 million in the case of the US. Michael Williams, the Texas Railroad Commissioner has refused to take a $45,000/year raise and […]
