A Lesson In Public Sector Pay

…from across the Pond. Just as in the United Kingdom, public sector workers are getting pay raises when the private sector is freezing pay and losing jobs – 7 million in the case of the US. Michael Williams, the Texas Railroad Commissioner has refused to take a $45,000/year raise and refused wage increases for his state employees. He says, “we should all be in this together.”

This is what happens when you get direct elections for what in the UK would be a Government appointed quango. It would bring a whole new dimension to our public service if we tried it on for size.
