Cameron On Householders’ Rights
“The moment a burglar steps over your threshold, and invades your property, with all the threat that gives to you, your family and your livelihood, I think they leave their human rights outside.”
David Cameron said this during an interview today for BBC1’s Politics Show – hopefully a video clip to follow. If its true then it will be a real bonus to families, as well as a well-deserved slap to Dominic Grieve. Grieve has a record of undermining his boss by objecting to potentially sound policies – including opposing repeal of the egregious Human Rights Act. If Cameron follows through with this then it is a great step in the right direction.
Let’s see how this pans out….
UPDATE: And the video clip…
Hat-tip: Conservativehome, who describe the quote as “dynamite”.
That’s more like it!
Just when I thought that Call Me Dave was floundering as a credible alternative to the mono eyed maniac, (and that’s saying something) I can see the faint glimmer of a backbone starting to appear.
As you say, it’ll be interesting to see if he actually follows through with this one 😉

Fingers crossed! lol Of course all the loony left-wing PC brigade have been jumping up and down about this all day on Twitter! Hopefully Cams got the balls to ‘follow thru’ 😉

It’s very positive, isn’t it. At Casa Eye the rule always was that if you break in and threaten my family then only one of us is walking out again…the difference if DC follows up with this is what would happen afterwards.
I offer everyone a simple deal…I won’t burgle your house and you don’t burgle mine. Breaking that deal may have unfortunate consequences for all of us. Simple, really.

It’s a bit of welcome clear blue water seperating the ancient battlecry of “oi, that’s mine, sunshine, bugger off” and the massed forces of darkness.
Let’s hear more like this, please, on all sorts of issues.

How I hope that, this time, he sticks to his declaration. Human Rights are a problem in that they appear to to benefit only those who they should not.
