EU Presidential Election 2009 – Late Night Special

October 31, 2009 at 11:37 pm

The excellent Iain Martin in the Wall Street Journal has written an amusing spoof of BBC coverage of President Tone’s big election night. Cue the intro music….

“It’s a historic night. It’s 10 p.m., the country waits with bated breath to find out who will win the election and become the first proper president of Europe.

The polls have closed (in fact they never opened) and the first results of a BBC exit survey are about to come in. David Dimbleby is in the studio and ready to go live. Peter Snow has come out of retirement one last time. Emily Maitlis is broadcasting live from the British Embassy in Paris to provide some continental flavor and interview various people on what they make of this (there’s no other word for it) historic night.”

Read it all – it’s rather good.
