“Skank” vs Internet Anonymity

Is this woman a “skank” and an “old hag”?

TheEye doesn’t know although is always suspicious of women who wear too much eye shadow.

Anyway, an anonymous blogger seems to think so. On his/her site we learn: “I would have to say the first-place award for ‘Skankiest in NYC’ would have to go to Liskula Cohen,”

“How old is this skank? 40 something? She’s a psychotic, lying, whoring, still going to clubs at her age, skank.”

Well, thats certainly an opinion, and the sort that the internet is famous for. Take these here and here as perfect examples. However these are politically correct blogs as they provide equal opportunity loathing…the site in question seems to have been specifically targetted at her and is now toast.

However she doesn’t want to leave it there but wants to find out who it was: “Cohen, who is actually 37, believed the posts were defamatory but was forced to take action against Google in order to unmask the blogger’s identity before she could take further action.

On Monday in the US, Judge Joan Madden ruled that Cohen was entitled to sue the blogger for defamation and, in an unprecedented move, forced Google to provide the blogger’s name.”

Right, so a Manhattan judge has, in a moment of madness, opened up a huge can of worms. Anonymous blogs are no longer necessarily anonymous.

If this isn’t overturned on appeal and Blogger cave in – and if other blog providers are going to put up more of a fight – then it might be time to move the blog to a different host.
