The time-zone my job has just taken me to and also the out-of hours work I’m doing now means that I’m horribly late blogging about something I care about enormously.

James Cleverly posted the picture which I snaffled and there are, I’m delighted to see, tens of thousands of other posts out there marking this day. One of the strangest stories is the one behind the origin of the Unknown Soldier. It’s in the Telegraph and elsewhere and is truly fascinating.

Stand with our veterans – from all of our wars whether you agree with the particular conflicts or not. They are our heroes sent by our politicians in to harms way.
