Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Man

It’s typical, isn’t it. Jonathan Woss and the bloke we’ve never heard of before are all over the news, while things like this barely get a mention.

L/Cpl Matthew Croucher is only one of 20 living recipients of the medal, awarded for acts of extreme heroism.

The marine dived onto the floor, rolled over and used his backpack to cover the shrapnel fragments from a grenade which was about to kill the four soldiers on patrol.

When the grenade exploded he was thrown through the air but walked away with just a nosebleed.

My favourite quote from his story: “It took 30 seconds before I realised I was definitely not dead”.

Truly a hero of our time.
