King Arthur Randomly Not English
From the ever-odd Croatian Times we learn that a British historian is claiming King Arthur was buried in Croatia.
This article is quoted in entirety so no point going through the link.
“Historian John Matthews has told the Croatian daily newspaper Jutarnji List he believes the gravestone found in the southern Croatian village of Podstrana is really King Arthur’s.
“If proven true, this theory will cause huge discontent in the UK. When we were working on Jerry Bruckheimer’s movie about King Arthur, many Brits called me a thief. They accused me of trying to steal King Arthur from the UK. There is no doubt it would be useful to do proper archaeological research in Croatia’s southern province of Dalmatia. Who knows what we would find,” Matthews has said.
Croatian authorities have already removed the gravestone found in the village of Podstrana along the coastal road between Adriatic cities Split and Dubrovnik. The authorities plan to protect the gravestone and place a copy of it where it was found.
Matthews and a few Croatian historians believe King Arthur was actually Roman commander Lucius Artorius Castus, who may have been buried in Podstrana.”
Right, so they’ve nicked St George overseas, now we don’t get King Arthur either and the only compensation that the English get is to know that St Patrick wasn’t Irish. Next time they will be telling us that Queen Elizabeth Saxe Coburg-Gotha isn’t a bit German.
Croatian Times is a great stuff. I read it often. It is in many cases far more interesting than British tabloids. It is UK based edition, though. See their Imprint.

I could see it being possible.. when these countries were starting out croatia was already old… and hey.. didn’t Marco Polo prove to be croatian too? I personally think history as we learn it could very easily be as much fictitious and stolen legacy as it can be the real truth. Is it beneath human habit, especially when speaking in terms of governments, to stake claim to what doesn’t belong to them??
