RIP GOT
And finally it comes, the news that we’ve been fearing and yet expecting for a couple of weeks. The Grumpy Old Twat has hung up his blogging boots for the last time.
“Gotty’s keyboard has been hung up. It’s tired and all twatted out, just like Gotty …”
It’s a sad day for TheEye, who counts Gotty as a longstanding friend in the blogosphere. He’s an occasional contributor here; TheEye over there, and we’ve worked together on a few projects and other ventures over the years.
But the constant pressure of turning out top quality video and images (check out some of his vids at EyeTube) has proved a bit too much – he set himself a demanding pace and he always kept it up. And there’s only so much swearing you can do when you can’t see anything changing because of it. Maybe he’ll surface again as a non-sweary blog? Or maybe he’ll haunt our Comments sections with red wine fuelled rants against the dying of the light? Or maybe that’s really him signing off for good. Who knows? TheEye suspects that we’ll find out soon enough.
So its goodbye to a fine, fine blog.

G.O.T. R.I.P. indeed, it was largely at Grumpys prompting that I launched my own humble blog. If you speak to him please do wish him well and thank him for a couple of years of fun 😀 .
Yes I was disappointed to hear the news. Perhaps he will come back ASE, in another disguise. I do hope so.

Very sorry to hear this. GOTTY has shown courage, wit, anger, bravery and a rage which is a pleasure to behold. Should he seek to return to the fray, his many friends will be there for him.
A sad loss indeed. It hasn’t been the same without his daily peppery rants!
He deserves a rest after all the brilliant stuff he has produced – no-one could keep up that pace indefinitely.
Consistently brilliant. I hope he thinks about letting rip once a week, once a month, once in a blue moon. When ever.
I got into this blogging lark after reading Gotty’s blog regularly – it’s left a big enough hole with him being away for the last couple of weeks but now with him hanging up his keyboard………. oh……. bummer! 🙁
Bummer indeed….. What am I going to put on the back of my car now? Sorry if that sounds horribly selfish, but I’ve had several comments and enquiries asking about “Those stickers on your car”, and little bits of publicity like that are what get a message out to the wider public.
Lots of us could fill blog posts with invective (lets face it, there’s no shortage of subject matter), but to illustrate them the way he does is not a talent I’m ever going to possess.
I was particularly angry to hear that a few individuals have been the catalyst for this sad news. No doubt the cowardly fuckers are quietly gloating over their “achievement”.
Like everyone else, I hope he reconsiders – there’s no shame in changing your mind, it doesn’t seem to have hurt Captain Ranty!

Yup, Hats off to the GOT I have to say. I have enjoyed his no nonsense approach to dealing with people and the freedom of his speech. His impartiality was also commendable as were his articles (at times).
