Chris Huhne Not Gay Shocker
The breaking story currently buzzing on the newswire is that Chris Huhne has been exposed as being a straight LibDem. Colleagues are reacting with shock. Mark Oaten has probably put down his rent boys for half an hour to digest his disgust at this quite unforeseen development.
By straying into heterosexual scandals, the LibDems are showing again that anything the Conservatives can do, they can do better. It’s an audacious move; putting their tanks on a lawn so often considered a field of endeavour where the Conservative Party is justly famous and internationally appreciated.
The Telegraph will doubtless be taking their ExpenseGate hard disk out of its fireproof safe at this very moment and looking for any hint that Huhne has bought Carina Trimingham as much as a bunch of flowers, but for now the political world remains stunned that it’s not just Nick Cleggover who can get some.
In further Wesminster rumours; it is whispered that Eric Pickles and Sarah Teather are an item. Watch this space…

That’s interesting because Giolla (at Anonymong.org), did an investigation of the groups backing the campaign for proportional representation.
Realistically, one would expect these people to know each other; they share a political interest after all, but the point about the Purple Campaign is that it tries very hard – and reasonably successfully – to present itself as a spontaneous grass-roots movement and not something which should be seen as an activist wing of the Lib Dems.
If the Lib Dem Energy secretary is knocking off Carina Trimmingham of the Electoral Reform Society (aka Mrs Loch Trimmingham by the looks of it) then it shows two things. a) The financial arrangements between the Society and the Lib Dems needs looking at and b) the Lib Dems remain a frightful shower.
My old Politics tutor was an ex national Lib youth chairman and afterwards as a patron and leading light in the ERS. Entertainingly, we were all asked by him “if” we wanted to join the ERS…but had been warned by the yeargroup above that it was impossible to pass his course if you didn’t. Ho hum.
But I digress, the point was that they have always been inseperable in my mind.
The interesting thing is that before the Coalition the LibDems had to do something *really* *really* interesting to get noticed. Opik and Cheeky Girls, Oaten and glass tables etc etc. Now they are running with the big boys the scrutiny that you speak of will start to happen. And they won’t like it. It’s easy to dish out, but….
He might well be shagging women (which will go totally against the grain within Limp Dumb circles) .. but please, please someone point him towards Specsavers ..

So .. it transpires that Huhne is in fact living up to the fine traditions of the former Liberals & current Limp Dumbs ..

The scandal isn’t really the affair, it’s his shabby tastes. The Conservatives seem to have a better *class* of mistress. There is a difference between a run ashore in a far flung godforsaken silted up port and what you invite to the Wardroom do, and the LibDems just can’t seem to get the balance right.
