Budget Cut Suggestion: Overseas Aid
One of the most stupid, short-sighted and unpopular pledges by the incoming Conservatives was the pledge to ring-fence the Overseas Aid budget. It was an idea so mind-bogglingly retarded that even the handwringing bearded weirdie LibDems didn’t suggest it; which is saying something.
On the list of the poor and deserving of our largesse – China and India… both with their own space programmes.
Over the past 10 years we have given India alone a staggering £2 billion. Think Defence have crunched the numbers to tell us what we could have had instead.
Instead, for that money the Indians got one of these:
…paid for not once, not twice, but almost THREE TIMES over by our charity payments to this allegedly impoverished country. Its a disgrace and David Cameron must do something about it.

I object most strongly to the sort of aid you’ve written about. It’s disgusting and they must be laughing up their sleeves.
There are countries who do need help and i don’t mind sending aid…as long as it’s not cash.

I’ve been saying exactly this for years. One doesn’t need to be a financial genius to know that constantly pumping money into countries like India, Pakistan or China is unsustainable .. and that’s before we even touch on the African nations ..
I suppose Britain could be compared with the late Eric Morecambe, he was a very funny man & everyone laughed at his antics (they do that with Britain too) ..
Sadly, that’s where the comparison must end .. Eric was universally loved (Britain is universally despised) and seen as a “soft-touch” whose conscience can be played like an old violin ..
To the coalition government the message is a simple one .. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO GIVE MONEY AWAY .. 13 YEARS OF LABOUR HAVE LEFT US SKINT ..
To those who constantly hold out the begging bowl, the message is equally simple .. GO FIND ANOTHER MUG, YOU’VE HAD MORE THAN YOUR FAIR SHARE OUT OF US ..

Oh indeed, it must be a great laugh to them. One day we’ll stop doing it and the Guardian handwringers will be up in arms…expecting the aid recipients to follow suit.
Wouldn’t be shocked if India just shrugged and said “cheers guys, couldn’t work out why you let us get away with it for so long.”

No money left, and yet the BBC is up in arms today because the Coalition have axed the planned new visitors centre at Stonehenge.
The only people who will moan about slashing overseas handouts are the Guardianistas, and they are only sustained in ‘business’ by government departments, councils and the BBC advertising in it for non-jobs. That sounds like several-birds-one-stone.
