Electric Police Cars
Cops based near Oxford in the UK have revealed that they are unable to to use flashing blue lights on their new electric car – in case it drains too much power from the battery.
The Thames Valley police force is testing out the £20,000 Mitsubishi iMiev in an effort to improve its environmental credentials. They have been pleased with the silent, emission-free car, capable of travelling 100 miles on a single charge – except for the fact that they can’t turn on the lights because it drains the battery too fast,
According to local Councillor Gerry Webb “It also saves public money.” The force has yet to decide whether to buy more of the cars, but it does seem like a splendid way to look like you are trying to save the polar bears while really doing your best to avoid any actual work. In the meantime, the police have not yet revealed exactly how they intend to signal suspects to pull over – maybe they could drive really close and pull a funny face?
What utter utter stupidity. When will this madness end? Actually it wont. Because we are now a fully paid up member of that superstate called Europe.
