“Muslim Demographics” – True Or False?

“Muslim Demographics” is a fascinating YouTube upload. With over 10 million views the 7:31 min clip makes some startling claims about the direction that the population in Europe is headed.

The BBC, which, how can one put it politely, is not known for its critical reporting of the Religion of Peace (“No Beheadings, Please, We’re Journalists” as the remake of a famous TV sitcom might be called) has published a point by point rebuttal of the points make by the clip.

The video presents all of its facts as true with sources apparently quoted, but frustratingly the text listing the sources in the corner of the screen is too small and blurry to read. So the BBC saying in one example that “No source is given for this information” is true only insofar as the (given) source information looks like smudged morse code.

The BBC kicks off by saying asking “But are any of the video’s statistics true?” before cherrypicking a few which they feel they can debunk. This is done by the unbiased and undeniably even-handed method of asking some “experts” who happen to disagree with the clip what they think.

So, one bunch of unverified statistics up against a rival set of them. Which ones to believe?

It is obvious that both sides are going to quote selectively and bend the facts to suit their arguments but if we are looking for an overall picture of the real trend and considering that the BBC have supplied one version – well, there’s a clue to be starting with…
