It strikes me that the G8 is little better than the UN or the EU when it comes to taking decisive and unconditional action. I read that it is to “consider” making some statement “critical” of the Mad Mullahs in Iran. Big deal. And as for the mighty EU’s commissioner for external relations condemnation of the use of excessive force, and call for dialogue among battling parties within Iran – I bet that has Ahamadinejad and his goon squad shaking in their boots! The problem with all these internationalist bodies is that they contain such a diverse mix of members some of whom have but a passing acquaintance with liberty and democracy that when it comes to crisis situations, as in Iran and North Korea, their hollow words mean less than zero.
