Only Delaying The Inevitable
On Wednesday the SNP and Plaid Cymru used their Opposition Day to put down a motion in the House of Commons to dissolve Parliament and hold a General Election.
TheEye will research the wording of the motion as it probably would have to be a petition to Her Majesty asking her to do the deed (which she could of course refuse to do as is her right) but being a pedant am interested.
However on the Turkeys Not Voting For Christmas principle the Labour backbenchers rallied round and it was defeated 340 votes to 268.
The reason for the delay in this post was waiting for a good YouTube or similar of the events and sure enough one has surfaced. William Hague is a brilliant debater and is here on top form. Watch and laugh (asking yourself at all times if you have ever seen Elmer Fudd and Willliam Hague in the same room at the same time).
