TheEye is unashamedly right-of-centre although co-conspirators on this blog are free to go their own way with posts. So it is with pleasure that we see that Lady Thatcher is to be awarded an honorary doctorate for supporting Poland as it shook off its Communist leaders.

Lady Thatcher, 83, will accept the award next month (June 22nd) via live video link from Lodz University after doctors said she was too frail to travel.

“Unfortunately, because of her current health condition, doctors would only accept the idea of a tele-conference. So she can still take an active part in the ceremony and will give a speech,” said university spokeswoman Professor Zofia Wysokinska.

Remember her words: “If you lead a country like Britain, a strong country, a country which has taken a lead in world affairs in good times and in bad, a country that is always reliable, then you have to have a touch of iron about you.

Says it all really.
