Blogging may be light or lightheaded over the next week, as contributor to this blog St Crispin will be in the neighbourhood as from today.

The occasion is due to the visit of Type-23 frigate HMS Kent which is providing the platform for the final element of the Principal Warfare Officers’ Course. The PWO course is a major career course for RN officers: it lasts for nine months and prepares officers for a role in which they co-ordinate a ship’s Operations Room and fight the ship on behalf of the Captain.

HMS Kent will also take part in next week’s Exercise Med Gun in which about twenty personnel, a mix of Naval Gunfire Liaison Officers and members of the Submarine Parachute Assistance Group, will develop their parachute skills. On Monday evening, parachute training will be carried out in the Mediterranean and on Tuesday in the Bay of Gibraltar.

If anyone fancies a Horse’s Neck or two in HMS Rooke over the next few days, drop an email to the usual address!
