There! May! Be! Trouble! Ahead!

Today, a few friends of TheEye who work for Yahoo! are very nervous – poised to find out if their mortage repayments are going to go south more rapidly than a Michael Jackson facelift. All Things Digital is claiming that 1,500 (or approximately 10% of the workforce) will be told today that they are no longer required and another 500 will go in a second tranche soon.

Most staff apparently have no idea if the axe will fall on them or not.

Merry Christmas.

As the cuts are expected to fall on back office staff rather than developers, The Eye’s friend BK should be fine, which will be great for his gorgeous wife and their young child. OM will be a lot more nervous because of his particular area of work, although he’s talented and single so would bounce straight back if the news isn’t good.

….but while there’s music and moonlight and love and romance, these friends, within the next few hours, will hopefully find out that they can still face the music and dance.

TheEye has enormous symapthy with all those who are turning up to work there this morning. This site has a few readers from that company and wishes everyone the best of luck.
