During the period leading up to the Good Friday Agreement, I recall meeting with US delegate Senator George Mitchell, as he was then. I found him to be a most unlikeable character, a snake in a suit. Then again, he was Bill Clinton’s bagman and he was intent on rewarding terrorists and isolating people like myself who believed in old fashioned concepts like justice. But George is back, this time playing the role of Obama’s bagman in the Middle East. I read that he is seeking a “early conclusion” of peace talks leading to Palestinian statehood, speaking to reporters after meeting Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank town. Wonder did Georgie-boy ask Mahmoud about his Holocaust denying thesis which earned him his doctorate? Wonder if he asked him about the Al Aqsa Martyrs that kill in the name of Abbas and his pals? Mitchell is a disgrace and the very idea of Palestinians getting so much as one grain of Israeli soil is offensive.
