What Do They All Do?
As Quote of the Day this is a fine contender:
“This makes MPs into petty accounting clerks”
Labour backbencher Eric Illsley, who says that MPs should not have to submit receipts for their expenses claims)
At least it would actually involve them doing some work with numbers though, which would put them one step ahead of their counterparts in Connecticut. Pity House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, far right, speaking while colleagues play solitaire on their computers. The state House of Representatives convened to vote on a new budget for the fiscal year in the state capital, Hartford.
The Bill cuts estate taxes for the wealthy, reduces the sales tax for everyone and increases the state income tax for couples earning more than $1 million a year. Lawmakers voted largely along party lines 103-45 which meant that, as nobody planned to change their minds, nobody had to bother listening to any of the speeches and this allowed plenty of time for Democrat lawmakers to play Solitaire or catch streaming baseball.
Or fill in their expenses claim forms, doubtless.
Michelle Malkin has the story from the Hartford Courant.
